Voltage and current are constantly changing in distribution systems. Your drives, boards and controls are constantly bombarded with voltage and amperage sags and surges. AVC or UPS System?

A majority of ups system equipment built for Data Centers does not qualify to correct harsh environment voltage. The Harsh environment in a plant facility requires a robust Industrial UPS solution or (AVC) Active Voltage Correction Device. The sizing and tolerance of an Industrial UPS System vs. the sizing of a Voltage Correction device are different.

 

Internally Derived Problems

Voltage sags can arrive from the utility; however, in most cases, the majority of sags are generated inside a building. Power issues derived internally come from equipment cycling on and off and will pull on various phases. It is never constant and voltage is always changing inside a facility.

 

Power Grid Problems

Almost all of these customer power issues can be corrected locally with a Voltage Correction Device or Industrial UPS. Most power anomalies that affect a facility from the utility side are derived from the transmission process. There is a low probability that the Utility Provider is creating bad voltage.

How is Active Voltage Correction Installed?

A system may be sized to pick up an entire facility, a specific process line, or down to an individual piece of equipment. A Facility Power Study and possible monitoring will be done to specifically pick up the issues in the plant. The equipment is located near the equipment it is supported. Switchgear distribution sections that support the facility are usually the location to tie in systems to pick up areas of the plant. Systems may also be located outside.
